Rashtriya Ekta Diwas (National Unity Day) is observed every year on 31 October to mark the birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, India’s first Deputy Prime Minister and Home Minister, who played a pivotal role in the political integration of the country after independence. The Government of India introduced the observance in 2014 to honor his extraordinary contribution in uniting more than 560 princely states into a single, sovereign nation.
The day holds great significance as it reinforces the message of unity, integrity, and security of the nation, inspiring citizens to uphold the values of national cohesion and collective strength envisioned by Sardar Patel.
