Research Activities & Achievements
Supply Response Analysis of Maize and Soybean:
The project aimed at identification of potential growth areas for the two major feed ingredients, their supply response behaviour to price and non-price factors, decomposition analysis, and production elasticities. Risk variables significantly affected maize acreage, while soybean growth was primarily due to acreage increase. Poultry population and irrigation were major drivers for soybean.
Consumers' Preferences and Marketing of Poultry Products:
Studied consumer preferences in North India, compared marketing channels for packaged vs. unpackaged products, identified value addition opportunities, and constraints in elite and rural markets.
Development of Project Formulation Software for Poultry:
MS-Windows® software was developed to formulate projects for commercial layer & broiler farms. It is used for preparing project reports for farmers/entrepreneurs seeking financial support or starting poultry businesses.
Economic Analysis of Poultry Production and Marketing in India:
Inter-regional analysis of growth areas, productivity trends, and long-term price movements. Co-integration analysis showed the interdependence of egg markets across the country.
International Poultry Trade & Export Opportunities:
Studied international trade patterns, identified opportunities for Indian poultry sector, and analyzed non-tariff barriers.
Small Farm Rural Poultry Production:
Tested strains for backyard systems, developed feed supplement packages, identified adoption constraints, and assessed impact on income, nutrition, and women empowerment. Project rated excellent by the advisory panel.
Study on Institutional Credit Support in Uttar Pradesh:
Analyzed constraints in financing poultry farming. Found disease risks, lack of insurance, collateral, and awareness as key issues. Finance was more accessible for expansion of existing units.
Hazard Analysis of Poultry Waste:
Estimated waste generation, projected future trends, and evaluated alternative uses through processing and value addition.
Poultry Entrepreneurship Development Initiative – The Agri Business Incubator:
ABI project (Rs. 79.15 lakh) launched in 2016 to support business incubation, commercialization of technologies, and human resource development for poultry entrepreneurs.
